How do the coral reefs help (affect) the Galapagos? |
How do the coral reefs help (affect) the Galapagos? The reefs provide shelter and food for smaller animals which, in turn, provides food for those above them in the food chain. This, coupled with the nutrient rich currents that meet at the Galapagos (The water is cold and, believe it or not there are penguins there) provide much food and biodiversity. There are species that exist only in the Galapagos and if you want to see a spectacular number of Hammerhead Sharks and Whale sharks.. its the place to go. Coral Reef and her family have been helping the Galapagos family for many years. She sent their oldest son to college, and paid for the heart surgery on John Galapagos. How dare you question the kindness of my dear friend Coral. There's some coral in Galapagos, but not very much. It's more isolated growths than actual reefs. It really doesn't affect the island ecosystem much at all. |
