Quito, Ecuador?

What county is Quito, Ecuador in?

but what county is it in? on myspace, it says Quito, Azuay, Ecuador.

Quito in in Ecuador, that's the name of the country. The province (state) in which it is is called Pichincha, Azuay is another province some 300 miles south, the capital of which is Cuenca.
Screwups such as these are commonplace in free and even commercial software (such as Google Earth or Microsoft Encarta), where place names are switched or nonexisting names used. This is not only the case for destinations off the beaten track such as Ecuador but also for hot ones, there was a recent outcry in Central Austria after one of the mentioned companies (can't remember which one) listed a local hill as "Hitler Mountain". This mountain had briefly been called that during the Nazi era, which fortunalety finished more than 60 years ago, no-one managed to explain how they got a hold of that name and why someone would be so senseless as to actually type it into a current software!

Ecuador is a country in South America, as its name says it lies on top of the Equator line. On the south lies Peru and onthe northe lies Colombia. Quito is the capital city of Ecuador. So, Quito is not a county, it;s the capital city of Ecuador.
Azuay is another province in Ecuador but it is not part of Quito. You say it says Quito, Azuay Ecuador. I giuess the comma means in this case that they are talking about 2 diffeetn provinces. Quito and Azuay are two different provinces, Quito being the capital city.

Quito, officially San Francisco de Quito, is the capital city of Ecuador in northwestern South America. It is not part of any county.
Azuay is a province of Ecuador, located in the south center of Ecuador in the highlands.

Quito is in the province (county) of Pichincha.
