Where is Cuenca? Ecuador or Spain?

I'm confused as sometimes in wiki it appears as one country and then in another.

In both places actually! The original Cuenca is in Spain. When the Spanish conquerors came to South America, they named most of their towns according to their old towns back home. So the new Cuenca is in Ecuador, it's a nice place in the highlands, like an hour from Guayaquil (more or less). Next time you type Cuenca in wikipedia, type the country or even the continent to get the right one.
