What do people in Denmark speak?

What do people in Denmark speak?

Hi Hoops!

It is an easy question, really. We speak Danish. It is of the indo European language family. (Where also Greek, Latin, English, french and German. belong).

Danish is very much related to Swedish and Norwegian. We understand each other when speaking clear and slow.

Generally you will find that Danes are very good at English. Being a small population of 5.2 million people with our own unique language gives us one (dis)advantage. No one understands us like Americans or Germans will be understood all over the world.

Consequently we HAVE to pick up other languages to be able to survive vacations and business trips. That is why almost everybody speak at least a little English and/or German.

Hope this covered your question.
