Affordable, private transportation in Costa Rica? |
I'm planning a trip to Costa Rica in a month. I'm going to Quepos (Manuel Antonio), then Monteverde, then finally Fortuna (Arenal). Is there a way I can get around these places by private transportation (van, shuttle, etc.) without burning a hole in my wallet? Taxi I fear will be too expensive and flying is certainly out of the question. Thanks! There are shuttle companies that offer private and semi-private transport to every major tourist destination. If you want the van all to yourself you are looking at about $120 per transport. it might be cheaper,or at least save you time if you fly nature air.they are a costa rican airline that takes you to small airports that are near most tourist attractions such as La Fortuna,Liberia and Quepos If you want to go to Costa Rica and get the full experience, you have to take a Caravan (tour company) tour. I went on one, and I loved it. We traveled the whole country in a week. You don't state how long you're going to stay in Costa Rica, but if you have the time, just ask around for transportation and prices. Costa Rica is "so touristic," you won't have any trouble finding "cost-sharing-partners" or other good deals. Start asking around even before you land in Costa Rica. (I'm assuming you're flying.) You'd be surprised how many other people are in a similar situation as you and many times getting to know who they are (by asking around) will create bargains from transportation modes (even taxis). Manuel Antonio is closed on Mondays remember that. and also bussing around isn't expensive and i spent two months in CR this summer and i had no problems. Private vans/shuttles are good but expensive. |
