first, if you want to work at a maquila in the lowest position then you would get about 4 dollars a day, if you are talking about how much do you have to spend to survive then i think you need at least 20 bucks a day for a non working person, if you want to work i think depending on your career that how much you are gonna own, the people that earn the most money are engineers but with experience and everything, i think that 9 an hour is not bad but you might have to spend almost half the money on groceries and on some bills, usually i spend like between 20-50 dollars only at school and some fast food take outs during 5 days, so i think you will be good if you own a place to stay or staying with someone you know, rent can be a little expensive some places, do not listen to the other answers it is not as bad as it seems, the girls thing has not been heard that much, americans are used to be safe everywhere, they do not have a fence because they think they are never going to be robbed, this is mexico that happens here, it is not safe but not extremly dangerous otherwise the million and a half people that live here would have already left, you have to live in the city to understand it, just be careful and do not trust people that much

It is dangerous especially if your a girl it is like some third world countries where girls have no rights sometimes you know. It gets really hot there and there is a lot of sadness there I think it is just horrible the way things are going over I signed a petition for amnesty for the girls over there. It breaks my heart those poor girls and mothers and the city how they suffer the officials turn the other cheek like nothing it is shameful.
