A nice area to live in Christchurch with running tracks, greens and beaches?

I am moving down to Chch in Jan looking for a nice area to live ( work in the city). Some people told me Chch has no traffic jam, nothing like in Auckland, is it true? What's the local house hunting websites apart from Trademe? Any advise are most appreciated!

Dont be put off by the negative comments - Chch is a good place to live if you dont mind the colder weather being in South Island, and the slower pace of life.

If you're talking about Christchurch, NZ there's no such thing. Christchurch is a hole plus it's dodgy and really creepy.

Well there are several nice areas in Christchurch!

Running tracks, well there are several...many people like Hagley Park for running, which is central Chch, but also the Port Hills, which is good for walking and biking as well and thats close to Cashmere etc.

Greens...you mean golf???? Well Hagley park has a gold course, but there are several around.
Beaches...well New Brighton, Sumner etc are close to the sea but there are other places close to these suburbs and not much further away.

It doesn't matter where you live in CH-CH really. It is easy to get to beaches, greens and running tracks. The bus service is great and if you have a car you can get across the city in under 20 minutes.

Christchurch is a relaxed city and almost has a rural feel to it. The people are friendily and you will find lots of fun things to do. Winter is abit cold but it is usually sunny and summers are great with lots to do outdoors in the surrounding area. Ch-ch is close to ski fields and mountain hikes and I am sure you will find lots of adventurous things to do whatever the season.

You can also do a weekend trip to Kaikoura and go whale watching or just take in the breath-taking scenery.
