What year of car can you make an american car an mexican car?

To nationalize an American car, it must be at least 10 years old. I KNOW this is the case...and I have a Mexican friend who just returned from working in the states for a yr (legally) and brouht back a car...11 yrs old. But, I am sorry, I cannot find any info on the web to refer you to on this subject. hope someone can help yu with more info. You could also go to a group called "life-in-mexico" and post your question there. I am sure you would get the info from someone there.
