Im travelling in mexico soon. is it dangerous? any sugestions?

The border areas can be pretty wild. Just don't get too stupid or drunk and you'll be fine. Avoid spring break partys

To that person above ... please name one resort that you are not allowed to leave !!!

Listen to the people who run the hotel. Lots of resorts prohibit you to leave their grounds...

Yes it's dangerous to travel in mexico.
stay home and travel in the the good old USA

It depends on where you go. But mostly no. However make sure you let someone know where your going to be at. And give your family that is left behind as much info as you can on the place you will be at. Be smart, try to make good choices because your limited on smart choices once your all liquor'd up. Have a fun and safe trip. :)

No more dangerous than parts of London, Paris or Rome. Travelers to any foreign country need to be prepared and alert. The back streets of Border towns should be avoided; stay sober, enjoy the cultural heritage of Mexico, its a great country with friendly people, great food, photo ops. Bien Viaje

Be safe and buy insurance full coverage for your car, just incase of an accident. Check with insurance agent to see if the plan covers u with a lawyer when u go to jail after an accident. Try not to drive at night out in the bunnies, and don't stop for anyone flaging u down.
Take care

Personally, the United States is far more dangerous than Mexico. The border towns are a bit scary, but they are on both sides! I have travelled all over Mexico, Guatelmala & Belize by truck & camper, and had absolutely no problems. The people are friendly and will go out of their way for you. Of course bring your common sense, and follow your gut....but this goes without saying when travelling in any country!

I am not sure how you are travelling, but just to let you know that the bus system in Mexico is first rate (use ETN) it is cheap and you can go just about anywhere.

Debit machines are everywhere, as well as cybercafes. Telephone calls are pretty expensive....but if you have to use the phone, don't use the hotel one, use the ones out on the street and buy a Ladatel Card for $100 pesos.

As far as the food....try everything....be a little cautious with the street vendors...just follow your nose. Mexico has come a long way, and they are aimed to please the tourist....I just spent 4 months there, and never found myself running to the bathroom once......you have to try Tamales, Pozole, Flan, Machaca, Sinchronazadas, chile rellanos, jicama with chile spice and lime, horchata, jamaica....the list goes on!

Saludos!

Let me advise you, as a Mexican resident at the border town of Matamoros, Tamaulipas, that it all depends on the choices you make. Remember to make wise choices and to have a couple of friends watching out for you whenever you are not in let's say "proper conditions". Try not to pick fights, b/c the fights here are like 30 guys against 1. Also, make sure to respect the cops. Although it is uncommon for them to pick on tourists, they may see you as an extra income source. My advice: bribe. Believe me you do not want to see a Mexican jail, commonly known as "barrandilla".

Not dangerous at all. No more dangerous then any other part of the world. Just be aware at all times and get used to the culture, people and language. Dont be a show off and respect the people and their culture. Dont over analysis situations. Come, enjoy and have fun. I am talking from experience because I came here for vacation and never left.
