What are some airports near Long Island that fly to Cardiff, Wales?

I need to get to Cardiff, but I want to fly direct, too. Can some one help?

Well, that's easy to answer: you can't. Cardiff has a small airport with flights only to and from other places in Europe.

Your closest international airports are of course JFK in Queens and EWR in Newark. You can fly to Dublin or Amsterdam and connect in either place to Cardiff, probably Amsterdam which even though it is farther has better connections.

But I wouldn't do that, since the UK has excellent train service. if you fly to London Heathrow, you can catch the Heathrow Express train to Paddington Station, which takes 24 minutes, then change for a fast train to Cardiff which takes two hours. Or there is a faster and cheaper connection if you take the airport bus to Reading and catch the train there, but the bus isn't as nice as the train.

Another possibility is to fly from JFK to Manchester, where there are also good rail connections to Cardiff.

JFK and Newark are the two closest international airports and they both have direct flights.

JFK is the closest to LI since it is in NYC.

Here is the link for Cardiff International Airport which shows that it does indeed have flights to and from the US.

There are very few scheduled flights direct to Cardiff from anywhere in the USA. Some days none at all and prices are relatively high. Flying via Paris, Frankfurt or Amsterdam is possible and all have connecting flights to Cardiff.

If your budget is tight check out charter flights from Newark NJ. You may well get a better deal if you fly to Bristol or Manchester. I would avoid going via Gatwick as travel to Cardiff from there is both tricky and expensive. Train services in the UK are not cheap.
