Im trying to find how I can call the United States from Cancun without paying a fortune

Rent a cell phone from Mexitel Cellular (mexitel.net). Their phones work well everywhere you can call the US from anywhere in Mexico for 62 cents per minute. If you order early enough for them to get you a phone local to the area you will be calling from, to call the US is only $1 for calls up to 20 minutes(no joke!) and your incoming calls are free, so it pays to order early if you can.

If you are living there Vonage or Skype. US calling cards are usually readily available. I haven't been to cancun in a couple of years, but here in Mazatlan, there are a couple businesses that have vonage phones they avail to the public.

buying a phone card is the cheapist but is still expensive...i called my job a couple of years ago and it cost me 7.50 for three minutes

there are special phones for callng internatioinal and they are plentiful and not expensive.

well the best way to check woulb be online, look for prepaid calling cards, n there u can choose call from, and calling to u can also see the cost per minute... my cuzn calls me all the time from Mexico.
