Where to live and not to live in Canberra?

What are the bad and good areas in Canberra taking into account the level of education, crime and other factors that affect the area. I'm curious because I might be moving there next year and don't want to live somewhere bad.

Since I am moving to Canberra in less than 30 days, I understand your question completely. I only hope the people
of Canberra are friendly like the one answerer and not like the other. I will try to live in the inner north, close to ANU, which
I believe is a "smarter" and safe neighborhood. It seems
a question of how much you can pay and how far you are willing to commute. Feel free to contact me.

Are there any bad parts of Canberra?

Canberra is a federal government town. It's full of public servants, who lead nice middle class suburban lives and send their kids to good schools. I can't recall ever passing through a "bad part" of Canberra.

The way you are speaking - you might as well stay home. Your attitude of "bad" and "good" areas - "taking into account the level of education, crime" reeks of snobbery and class segregation. If we are too "low class" for you then please stay where you are.

Crime happens in ANY suburb. Canberra is a beautiful city and people are very community minded. We don't need people with your attitude. Thanks

Canberra dosn't have "bad" and "good" areas, it is not that sort of place. Schools are excellent all over Canberra and in ANU you have the best university in the country. Canberra is spread out. Find out where you are working and pick a suburb close by. Walking to work or riding a bicycle are common in Canberra and both are enjoyable.
