I want to visit Floriade in Canberra and see the spectacular flower show there and i was wondering when will be a good time to visit it?

I plan to visit it in the 2 week holidays.

any suggestions?

Visiting Floriade
Experience the Australian story told through spectacular flower beds at Floriade 2007 - Aussie icons, myths & legends !

There is something for everyone, from entertainment and live music, to food, wine and horticultural activities.

Floriade runs from mid September to mid October every year and is presented in the splendid grounds of Commonwealth Park on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin.

Floriade Dates
15 September to 14 October 2007
13 September to 12 October 2008
Opening Hours
Monday to Friday 9.00am鈥?.00pm
Weekends and Public Holidays 8.00am鈥?.00pm
Last entry to the event 30 minutes before closing.
Admission
Entry to Floriade is free.

The best time is when it is open of course! Mid September to mid October.

It is busy virtually all the time at Floriade. It is slightly better to go during the weekdays as the weekend will be very crowded (still crowded during the week anyway - but not as bad a the weekend)

Get there as early as you can. Many people even get there and wait for the gate to open in the morning - thus avoid the crowd.

If you are planning to take lots of photographs then plan well and stay the whole day if you can. Good light for photos early and late in the day as direct overhead sun is not that good for photos of flowers (but you probably know this already) and the crowd basically won't allow you that much opportunities during the most part of the day anyway.

Have a good trip.
Who knows? You might even walk right past me one day over there.
I am an amateur photographer and have been to Floriade regularly the past four years. I live in region nearby.

In my experience the best time is a week to ten days after the show first opens. Right at the beginning some flowers might not have opened. Close to the end the place is beginning to get rather worn. First day this year is 15 September so think about the 22nd to the 25th for your visit. A few days after this are good too. Plan to spend at least five or six hours, there is a fair bit to see and plenty of things to clean the wallet out. Generally good coffee and tea, decent light meals and some free entertainment as well. Monday is probably the pick of the days, Canberra and surrounding towns are at work and there will be fewer people there. Wear a hat, good shoes and a light jacket.

Jump online and check out the itinerary for Floriade and pick from there. During the week means less crowding but there's more happening during the weekends. Have fun :)

At the beginning. After that some of the flowers start to wilt as they don't have the constant shade and stuff they give them before presenting them to the public. Also there is more other stuff going on.
