Cambridge - where to park in the city centre?

I am visiting Cambridge for a day but not sure where to park in the city centre. I just want to walk away and sit in a cafe.
Thanks.

Cambridge is a historic and busy city. Its medieval streets were not built to cope with todays traffic. Like other successful cities, Cambridge experiences traffic congestion at peak times and car parks can fill up, particularly on a Saturday. If it is not essential to come in your own vehicle, it may be cheaper and easier to choose one of Cambridge's other travel options.
Parking
There are five central car parks with over 3,000 spaces, which are managed by Cambridge City Council. Car park prices make a stay of 2 hours more expensive than a Park & Ride return ticket, but concessions are available for Blue Badge holders.

On-Street Parking
There is designated on-street parking for Blue Badge holders in St. Andrew's Street, Bridge Street, Corn Exchange Street, Fitzroy Lane, Hobson Street, King's Parade, Napier Street and Peas Hill. Blue Badge holders may also park free, without time limit, in any of the on-street Pay & Display and residents' parking spaces, as well as on single and double yellow lines for up to three hours. However, they must not cause an obstruction or park in loading bays, and cannot enter the historic zone, during restricted hours, without a special permit. For more information on special permits, please contact:

New Square is a popular yellow line Blue Badge parking spot, offering access to both the Grafton and Historic centres.

Road Closures
To make the city a pleasant and safer place to visit, traffic has been restricted in many places. Automatic bollards operate on some routes in the central area. They close the route to through traffic, except for authorised buses and taxis, which are issued with electronic tags to lower the bollards.

Please do not attempt to use these closure points: it is illegal and you risk damaging your vehicle.

Access Arrangements in the Historic Centre
Parking is prohibited 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and motor vehicles are not permitted access between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Saturday, except for special permit holders.

Many drivers with a disability are eligible for these permits, which can be obtained from the City Centre Access Team on (01223) 712425.

To allow for deliveries to be made and for other essential access, vehicles can enter and park to load and unload before 10am and after 4pm Monday-Saturday and all day on Sundays.

Blue Badge holder parking is also permitted at these times as long as vehicles do not cause an obstruction.

There are a few car parks, but there is also a very good park and ride...try that.

If you are visiting ,or doing light shopping then use of of the FOUR Park and Ride routes into the city centre. There are located on the principal main roads into the city.
the Trumpington site is close to the M11.

Plenty of cafes in the centre :try Fitzbillies in Kings Parade, or Aunties close to Great St Mary's Church by the market.

Be green and use the good P&R service.

I recommend Park and Ride services, it will save you getting caught up in traffic in the centre of town. There is a Park and ride in Milton - cowley road, madingly - Madingly Road, Babraham - babraham Road and also Cambridge - Newmarket Road

Hope this helps too:
