What is "CAMBRIDGESHIRE"?

I THOUGHT THAT THE CITIY IS CALLED CAMBRIDGE

BUT WHY CAMBRIDGESHIRE?

are these meanings are the same?

Cambridge is a City in the UK
Cambridgshire is a county in the UK
Unsurprisingly, Cambridge is in Cambridgshire.
This is quite common in the UK - the town Buckingham is in the county of Buckinghamshire, Bedford / Bedfordshire, Northampton / Northamptonshire and many more. Collectively, these are often refered to as the 'Shires', and forms a large area of central / southern England. These county names are normanlly abreviated - Cambridgeshire = Cambs, Buckinghamshire = Bucks etc.
Of course, not all counties are named after towns - Devon, Dorset etc

Cambridgeshire is the county. The county town of which is Cambridge. Just as Hertford is in Hertfordshire, York is in Yorkshire and Lincon is in Linconshire.

You're right it's a city but Cambridge City is in the county of Cambridgeshire. Lincoln is the same it's a city called lincoln but the county it falls in is Lincolnshire. Hope this helps.
