I have agreed to a offer by Ministry of Health, Bahrain for 867+200 (Basic+HR) plus one month gratiuty.?

1. Do expats get promotions in the post?
2. How much is the increment in pay per year?
3. Is it possible to extend contract for 10 years (I am hard working and dependable)?
4. Will the ever increasing inflation eat into my savings?
5. Will I be ever eligible for pension in Bahrain?
6. Can I change my job in Bahrain?

Here are your answers:

1) Hard working expatriates do get promotions, but it depends on the organization itself whether they are willing to pay more or not.

2) For expats, there is no annual increment.

3) Contracts are usually annual or bi-annual. They cannot be extended to 10 years at once, but yes you can remain in any organization even more than 10 years. It all depends on how hard you work.

4) Inflation can be a pain in the @ss. But how much will it differ? Not that much.

5) You are eligible for pension only if you are a citizen, that is why you will be paid gratuity. It is instead of the pension. Gratuity is only for expats.

6) Yes you can change your job once you finish a contract. Your new employer will sponser you while the previous one has to cancel the residence permit. You might have to go back to your country first and then be employed again.
