Who does this statue (in Berlin) represent? |
It's a statue of a woman in Berlin, I think (not sure though) near the cathedral. She's sitting down, looking humble, she's barefoot and has some kind of hole on her forehead. Here's a picture I found on the web: http://www.brainboximages.com/brainboxim... Hi there! I'm a US citizen living in Europe, & I recently visited Berlin for a few weeks. Now I am not familiar with this exact statue, but I feel confident in saying that what is represented here is a holocaust victim. Statues exactly like this one, in terms of materials used, style, aesthetic, color, etc., can be found throughout the city as memorials to those who lost their lives under Nazi power. They are very haunting, but beautiful in there own way. Some are more "graphic," for lack of a better term since they are somewhat abstract & organic, than this particular one, but the message is the same. I wish I had my photos uploaded somewhere, I could show you more. With a little creative searching, you might be able to find more online though. Hope this helps! Ciao ciao :) Jess Is that a goddess of fertility. |
