Why all the foreign people love only Rome, Positano, Sorrento and Venice?

First of all, sorry for my bad English.
I'm from Italy and I always asked myself that question. I live near Adriatic coast, we have beaches, mountains, hills, art and historical places, nice little villages, shopping (mostly the best shoes in the world), lovely food and traditions: all so close, in half an hour you can reach different places. So why all americans always go to the same boring and obvious places? The few that came in our mild hills, have bought country houses and come back here every year.

we saw rome and florence when we visited last year, but our favorite places were the ones out in umbria and the eastern coastline. i absolutely adore spoleto and all the time we spent exploring that region around and east of it. a really cool place we drove to was the grotte di frasassi. although the whole tour was in italian, the stuff we saw in the cave didn't need to be translated. next time we visit we hope to have more time for the adriatic coast.

Because they are the places they always see in films and on TV. They want to see the Pantheon, Colloseum and Citta di Vaticano in Rome. They want to see Basilico di San Marco, The Grand Canal and the gondolas of Venice. They want to see the Duomo in Milan and all the other old beautiful buildings of the places you mention. Not to mention it is cheaper to get to Rome, Milan or Venice. I prefer the places not frequented by tourists. I lived in Sicilia for two years and saw gorgeous many Roman and Greek ruins, not to mention Norman and Sarcen castles and forts. There are many great places to go in Italy, but tourists are going to go where they always have Roma, Milano, Venezio, Firenze, Positano and Napoli.

Not true- "ALL" the people don't-I personally prefer the small villages and towns in places where there are hardly any tourists. I LOVE Italy, but I hate being in places that are full of tourists. When you really love a country, you choose to explore places like the towns off the Adriatic coast, or to go to other parts of Italy that most tourists don't go to. Be happy that crowds of people don't flood your area. It would lose some of its simple charms.
Ciao ciao

That is very true. I was born and raised in the southern region of Apulia. Nobody even heard of it. LOL. I cant tell you it is breathtaking...I personally think that the adriatic coast in Italy is the best...best beaches, best weather, everything.
