seriously i was thinking about languages and how to say some words in different laguages then i asked how many languages are there ??????
any one can tell me it in exact number

There are 6,800 known languages spoken in the 200 countries of the world. 2,261 have writing systems (the others are only spoken).

i don't think there's an exact amount because there's still alot of native tribes out there that have distinct languages. Not to mention do u consider mexican spanish? mexican has its own dialect but often considered spanish

I don't know how anyone can be sure with any degree of certainty...as an example , there are over 800 languages in Papua New Guinea alone ! I bet they aren't all included in the totals above !
