What FOOD should I bring?

What are some good healthy snacks to bring on a long plane ride. I will be in and out of airports for 30 hours straight. I want to stay up beat as possible. What things work well while flying. Any other advice on how to stay feeling good while flying would be great.

Things that pack well and that will stay fresh without refirideration or that will need to be heated to eat are best. These include apples, carrots, celery sticks, raisins, nuts (preferablly unsalted), trail mix, hard candies, M&Ms, granola bars, dried fruits, crakers that have cheese or peanut butter already on them, and peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches (in a Glad ware or similar type of reusable disposable container to keep them from getting squished).

Anything high in fiber and/or protien will fill you faster and satisfy you longer than things that are filled with empty carbs and calories.

You'll want to stay away from salty things like chips and pretzels as salt can cause you to retain water and become bloated. I'd also recommend staying away from too many sweets as they're just empty calories and will leave you feeling hungry a short time later.

Try to limit drinks that conatin caffiene such as coffee, tea and soda as it is a dirutic and can cause you to dehydrate. Drink plenty of water or juice to stay well hydrated as the air on the plane is very dry. Sports drinks are ok, however, look for one that is low in sodium (salt) or you may end up feeling bloated.

Try and get some rest. I've found that even just closing my eyes and listening to some relaxing music is better than not getting any rest at all. An eye mask and either ear plugs or headphones can help block out light and noise allowing you to get some sleep.

If possible try and bring your own travel pillow and blanket. The pillows and blankets on the plane can be very gross (you don't want to know what people do under airplane blankets) and are not always changed between flights. I've also been on flights where there weren't enough blankets and pillows for each passenger to have one. You can find small travel blankets, pillows and eye masks at most luggage/travel stores and some big box stores like Target.

If you plan on brining your laptop or IPod, make sure to put the power cord (with any necessary adapters) into your carry on. You never know when you'll find an outlet while waiting for a connection where you can charge your electronics.

Frankly .... by the 8th hour, you are just ready to get out. Don't even think about how to stay upbeat. There is no way. I have done at least 50 30-hour trips for work. Just keep it simple. Enjoy the food in the airplane and in-flight movie. Snacks does no difference on flights. Just keep yourself hydrated with plenty of water.

I took some cheese and crackers with me. The grocery store sells real small packs of cheese. Or you can cut some up and put them in a plastic bag, also apples or popcorn.

I would bring whatever is your simple type of foods..for instance if you like a particular brand of crackers or cookies bring that..or some sort of Tea..candy..whatever makes you feel even a little bit better would make your very long trip less stressful

100 Calorie Packs are great, look for snack places after sercuity in each airport.
