Does anyone know how I can earn or find CHEAP northwest airline miles?

I'm a Northwest frequent flyer and have wrestled with this question myself.

The cheapest way to get miles is to use all of the promotions that they offer--sign up bonus, credit card bonuses, WorldPerx Mall bonuses--like 5 miles per dollar spent, and the best... book and fly a bonus promotion round trip.

When you crunch the numbers, the cheapest way is the last way--actually booking and flying a trip--as long as you actually want to take the trip, anyway (otherwise, see below). For example, with their Dallas-AMS new nonstop flight promo, earn 5,000 miles in addition to actual miles flown (9,814). Pay for it with your new WorldPerx Visa (15,000 miles + 1,084 flight cost) = 30,898 miles for the cost of $1,084.

Buying 2,500 miles from Northwest is $95. To get 30,000 miles this way would cost nearly $865. http://www.nwa.com/worldperks/buymiles.s...

So the most cost-effective way is to maximize all of the bonuses and carefully collect all miles from flights flown--even with partner airlines such as Delta, Continental, KLM, and Air France.

Marry the pilot.
