I've been told to tell the flight attendants that i'm a nervous flier. what do they do when you tell them that I'm a flight attendant...granted my airline is pretty unique....but whenever someone tells us they are a nervous flier we know to spend a little more time talking with them. When it gets bumpy one of us will go and sit with them to ensure they're comfortable, talk them through it, let them see how comfortable we are. One particular frequent passenger has us hold her hand when she gets nervous. Some of them ask lots of questions about air accidents and we let them know everything we know, we'll even tell them about our training if they want. When little kids are on board we usually let them touch the demo equipment (life vests, oxygen masks, so that if we did need to use them, they wouldn't be as scared. They put duct tape on your mouth so you don't scream and scare the rest of the passengers. They are professionals and they know how to handle the issue. They may give you music to listen to or free cards to play with!(I aways ask for cards when I fly you get to keep them!) They probably note it on their seating chart and share among themselves. They probably observe you to make sure you don't get upset, airsick or too nervous. I am not a flight attendant, but I work in the airline industry. I have friends that are flight attendants. When you tell them that you are a nervous flier the first thing that they are going to think is "is she going to have a panic attack?" Or hope this person dont "freak out" during the flight. |
