Why dont they use zeppelins/blimps for air transporting? as safer to use and will not harm the planet?

i dont mean using hydrogen.. am talking about using helium instead

they are used in military applications, and there are some tourism related activities done with blimps.
It is just about who will do it first I guess, once people invest money in the system, it will work.
As far as the posts on speed and time, remember the Concorde? it isnt always about speed and blimps would be very effective for cargo. However with airtravel rates falling as they are, people may still find it cheaper to fly by airplanes.

They still have to use fuel to make the blimp move forward. It's also not as safe because the slightest little prick in the skin can cause massive air pressure loss. It would also be about 200 times slower than air travel. Probably slower than ship travel, even.

Also, in addition to the above poster's words, a wrong sequence of events and that thing goes up in flames like a paper lantern.

It's not safer at all! All that hydrogen with a fire in close vicinity is madness. Remember Hindenburg?

There is consideration being given for using lighter-than-air craft to carry cargo, but their relative slowness makes them undesirable for transporting passengers.

The worst problem is the safety concern. That is true even if the craft uses helium and not hydrogen. "Blimps" have a nasty habit of crashing due to high winds and/or shifting winds.

because the world has got into such a big damn hurry and any ideas that are "enviro friendly" are shot down if it's not FAST.

because that very-very huge blimp can only bring around 20 passenger at a time including the pilot.. is this what you want?? to bring such a big vehicle that move very slow but only 20 passenger inside??? is that sufficient??? idts..

Do you want to get to your destination before you get old?
Nuff said.
