Im afraid of looking like an idiot asking for help at the airport?

ok so im leaving for phoenix to visit my aunt and uncle on wednesday and im 18 yr old high school student. i am very blonde both looks and personality wise and get confused very easily. i am afraid of looking like an idiot asking how to get to the terminal and gate i need to get to. what do i do if im still confused when they tell me? is there a specific person that could help me walk me to the certain area? what people should i ask for help? im afraid of getting lost and missing my fleight or whatever.

this is my 1st tiem flying alone and 2nd tiem flying period and i remember my 1st time beign confusing and i wasn't even the one asking where to go and stuff it was my mom n her boyfriend. so im just nervous anxious. im really uber shy beyond belief and afraid too shy to talk to people i dont know but i have to get over my shyness quick

i worked at an airport for several years, and trust me this is not the most idiotic thing we had to answer.

the biggest help to you, especially if you're shy, is to look at your surroundings. really notice the signs and arrows, follow directions.

if you still are having a hard time finding where you need to know, ask anybody in a uniform. it's best to ask either the TSA personnel (they are the ones who work the security line) or one of the employees of YOUR airline. if you're in the right terminal for your airline, go up to one of THEIR desks, not one of their competitors to ask.

like i said, take a look around first. you might find your way all on your own!
and if not, giving directions is one of the most common things asked.

(and certainly not as moronic as asking "Are we boarding yet?" when looking outside the window at an empty jetbridge!)

Ask them if they have a map of the terminal. If they do, have them show you on the map by drawing lines. My friend who is an older woman, and blond (looks and personality) did that in the Atlanta terminal. They gave her the map and told her if she had any problems, to locate any airport personnel and they would show her the way. She flies all the time from FL to Missouri and she STILL has to ask for a map in Atlanta!!! Good luck!

Hun all you have to do is follow signs. Look for what terminal you have to go to. Usually they are marked with letters (A, B, C, etc.) Let's say you have to go to gate A23. Follow signs to terminal A, and once you get there, look for gate A23. It's very simple! =]

A lot of people in Washington DC ask how to get to their gate. It is not a stupid question. Just ask!

people get lost everyday all ove the world in many places from Airports to shopping centers to city centers to even train stations.

Very simple, most airports have a moderate level of signage so they will tell you where each gate it (like gate 1-25, go left)

when you check in, your check in agent will tell you which gate to go to and most do say which way that is. number one tip is not to get flustered by protentionally big crowds and security.

security is no problem. Do as they say promptly and they are no hassle.

enjoy your flight and just stay calm. you will probobly get a little nervous before boarding and before take off but every first time flier does....even I do and I have flown lots of times.

have a great trip!

not only blonde.. almost everybody ask that question on airport.. you can ask information person or try ask hot female F/A.. hey, they should know where the gate is right??? happen to me once.. people ask me where is this and that gate.. well, if its KUL, i'll be glad.. but if international, sorry dude.. try ask information person..

hey!!!
I fly around all the time and just let me say this....

Almost everybody in n airport looks like an idiot!!!!

Who cares, you have to be where you need to be and NONE of those people will probably EVER see you again..
look dumb, be on time, ......it's the fool who you see running for the gate while he drops crap ot of his arms that people laugh at!!!
don't worry....be happy...

I've never taken a flight by myself, but at 18 or younger I think they had a flight attendent in the terminel who will take you directly to the place where you go before you get on your flight, and after that all you have to do is give them your ticket. It might be different in other places though. You won't look like an idiot though, asking for help. Me, personally, would rather look stupid then miss my flight or get lost in an airport.

ryan dont worry i get confused and have blond moments all the time dont be scared to ask for help its not a big deal
