Flying to Arizona?

In a week and a half, I'm flying from Wisconsin to Arizona. I haven't been on a plane for two or three years. I'm having a little bit of confusion when it comes to what is allowed to be brought as carry-ons, and what things are restricted.

I would like to know what the restrictions are when flying these days. What is the maximum size of a carry-on bag? What things can I bring/what things do I have to avoid? Can I bring makeup in my carry-on? What about snacks or beverages? Is there a limit to certain items? What other restrictions do you know about?

I am flying on Midwest Airlines if that makes any difference.

Thank you all very much!

I did check their website, but they really only discuss the liquids and medications, nothing other than that.

I want to ask here so that I can get some first hand opinions/experiences, as well as more information than what is on their website.

Hope this well help. Best two I found

Your best bet is to call and ask the airlines directly. However, last time I flew (last year) we ended up having to throw away our 2 unopened bottles of water before going through security.

They will allow 1 carry one aside from a briefcase or a purse. If it is the size of a backpack, it should be ok.

A far as liquids, I would not bring any liquids or gels if possible. If you simply must carry them on, be sure they are small (I think it has be 1 ounce or less) and they have to be grouped in a clear plastic bag (like a zip lock bag). If you buy snacks at the airport, they should allow those on the plane. I would ask just to be sure, though.

If you bring any medications, make sure they are in their original container with the label clearly showing your name and what the medication is.

If you want to have your own beverages, you will have to wait and purchase them after you pass through security. The new rule there is 1 quart size baggy per passenger, and all liquids inside the baggy must be in 3oz containers, or smaller. You can bring your own snacks, no problem. As far as makeup, anything liquid will have to go into that baggy of yours. However, if you are checking a bag, then you may have liquids over 3oz inside that bag. If you go to the airlines website, it should have the exact dimensions for carry on bags. Usually there is a baggage section, or in the FAQ. Have a great trip!

No beverages, no cig lighters, have a valid id, on hand. Less metal on your body the better, like under wire in bras, and you can have one carry on. Same rules apply other then no beverages and no lighters.
