Can anyone tell me about places worth visiting near Ahmedabad within 250 kms of the city?

From Ahmedabad, there is very little downward. So u need to look upwards. Mount Abu is the first option. Then may be places around Abu, even Ajmer and Udaipur. You can also drive down to Saurashtra side --to Kandla and Run of Kuttch.

try zainabad sanctuary. i dunno how far but its gr8. near rann of kutch. u can even stay there at night. they have options for a night safari, day safari, dinner in the moonlight with the animals and even a bonfire. it is absolutely mavellous. must visit. if u like visiting historical places goin for adalaj ni van (the adalaj step well). a true piece of history and architechture. the sun temple at modhera ia also a good option. there's some place like saila or something where there are remains of the harrappan civilization. just ask some one bout it. need ne thing eslse?then try this:

You definitely want to go visit Akshardham in Gandhinagar.It is 1/2 hour from Ahmedabad. U will be amazed.

There are lot of villages in Gujarat near Ahmedabad which have many piligrim spots.
