Has anyone taken the train from Delhi to Agra? Taj express???

Can anyone tell me how to book this from the UK?

i agree with other posters that the Shatabdi Express is better in terms of speed and duration of travel.

for booking from UK, here is what you need to do:

create an account and login at the following website:
http://www.irctc.co.in
you may need to give an address in India, in case the site does not allow a UK address; suggest you give the address of the hotel, where you might be staying in Delhi prior to undertaking the journey.

You can look at the options and trains available on the days that you want to travel. You go for a e-Ticket and make the booking and print out the e-Ticket and carry with you directly to the train/platform and you are all set for travel.

In some cases, you may have difficulty in getting a e-Ticket in which you can you can ask for delivery to the place where you will be staying or possibly a friend in India. Usually they deliver the ticket by a local courier within 2-3 working days.

Remember the site will allow you to make the booking only when the counters are themselves open in India, i.e. between 5 am and 1130 pm Indian time or 23.30 and 1800 hours GMT

remember to determine the station codes correctly; for Delhi it is NDLS and for Agra it is AGC (Agra Cantonment)

Payment can be made on Visa/master cards including foreign cards.

hi debb, well i do not know the answer to this specific question but if u have any other question about Agra do let me know as i visited Agra in oct and spent a day there.

Taj Exp (Train No. 2280) takes around 3 hr from Delhi to Agra starts at 7:15 AM.
Personnally i would Suggest go for Shatabdi (Train No. 2002) it get you there in under 2 hr.

Ya it starts around 7.20AM in morning from Delhi and put you at Agra around 10-10.30 depending upon trafic etc. You may create a login ID at www.irctc.co.in and book your ticket over there. You may take printout of the same in case it is confirmed ticket.
